Hedgepoint Global Markets once again hosted a proprietary event during the Swiss Coffee Trade Association (SCTA) Forum & Dinner, held on October 1 and 2 in Montreux, Switzerland.

Representatives from various stages of the global coffee supply chain attended the event and emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for dialogue about the changes that are impacting the international coffee market.

As a sponsor of SCTA, Hedgepoint took the opportunity to strengthen its relationships with clients, partners, and industry leaders and to broaden discussions on the market, demand, and risk management. A total of 66 people attended the meeting hosted by the company as part of the event’s program.

The meeting took place at a time of significant changes for the global coffee market. Issues related to demand, regulation, sustainability, origin, international trade, and volatility continue to influence the decisions of producers, exporters, traders, roasters, and other participants in the supply chain.

In this context, creating spaces for dialogue between different markets and perspectives becomes even more important.

With the theme “Drivers of Coffee Demand and Market Outlook, ” the event featured the participation of Cecafé —the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé)—and the Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (ABIC), which helped broaden the view of the market by offering different perspectives on the factors that have been influencing global consumption and trade of the commodity.

Among the participants were Marcos Matos, director general of Cecafé, and Márcio Ferreira, chairman of the organization’s board, who contributed to the discussion by sharing insights on the Brazilian market, challenges related to access to the European market, and the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The discussion also highlighted the importance of traceability and monitoring systems capable of providing greater predictability and legal certainty for producers, exporters, and other participants in the supply chain.

Pavel Cardoso, president of ABIC, broadened the discussion from the perspective of Brazilian industry, linking the debate on the global market to the specific characteristics of the origin and the challenges faced by the national supply chain.

Representing Hedgepoint were Carlos Costa, Commercial Chief Officer; Luiz Carvalho, Global Co-head of Trading & Quant; Edélcio Samorano, Head of Coffee Desk; Victor Sousa, Relationship Manager; Jessie Chen, Relationship Manager; Gabriel Oliveira, Relationship Manager; and Laleska Moda, Market Intelligence Analyst.

“Attending events like the SCTA goes beyond mere institutional participation. It is an opportunity to closely monitor market changes, understand different perspectives, and strengthen relationships with companies and professionals involved in the production and marketing of coffee worldwide,” notes Carlos Costa, Chief Commercial Officer at Hedgepoint Global Markets.
